Pilates for Pain Relief and Rehabilitation

Many physicians and physical therapists recognize and praise the benefits of Pilates. They often recommend that their patients practice Pilates for pain relief, post-injury and post-surgical rehabilitation, including shoulders, hips and knees.

Pilates is widely acknowledged as one of the most successful methods for alleviating back pain, spinal disorders such as scoliosis, joint and disc diseases such as bulging and herniated discs and degenerative disc disease. It also benefits individuals with sciatica, nerve pain, neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis, arthritis, pelvic floor dysfunction and other pain and movement disorders.

Many of our clients come to us through referrals from medical practitioners and therapists. Our expert teachers are accustomed to working with physicians, physical therapists and the client to develop a program that addresses the individual’s specific needs and goals.

This includes obtaining information about the client’s underlying condition, identifying contraindications, discussing doctors’ recommendations and reviewing physical therapy evaluations and home exercise programs.

Our teaching is distinguished by our ability to help you understand your body on a deep kinesthetic level. Our goal is to empower you to develop awareness and make changes that will restore healthy movement and alleviate pain and injury. We listen, support, examine, and we will teach you how to move with greater ease, grace and confidence.
